October 2024:

- Asha’s (MS student) abstract, “Trichoderma afroharzianum T22 Induces Rhizobia and Flavonoid through Systemic Signaling to Combat Fe Deficiency in Garden Pea,” has been accepted for a talk at the International Phytobiomes Conference 2024. The conference will be held at the Donald Danforth Center in St. Louis, MO, in late November 2024.

 

September 2024:

- Asha has submitted a manuscript (Trichoderma afroharzianum T22 induces rhizobia and flavonoid through systemic signaling to combat Fe deficiency in garden pea) from her MS thesis to a peer-reviewed journal. The preprint version is available at https://doi.org/10.1101/2024.07.11.603139 

 

- Rokibul has submitted his part of the research, titled “Fe Deficiency Causes a Transcriptional Shift in Roots Leading to Disruption of Drought Tolerance in Soybean,” to a peer-reviewed journal. The preprint version is  available at https://doi.org/10.1101/2024.08.30.610582 

 

August 2024:

- A collaborative manuscript with Louisiana State University, titled “Local Signal from Trichoderma afroharzianum T22 Induces Host Transcriptome and Endophytic Microbiome Leading to Growth Promotion in Sorghum,” has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Experimental Botany. - Dr. Kabir has received a two-year grant from Louisiana Biomedical Research Network (LBRN) for research on “Harnessing Microbial Symbiosis to Biofortify Iron in Garden Pea for Combating Human Anemia” (Award No. P20GM103424)

 

- Congratulations to Asha on winning the first prize for her poster at ULM symposium Spring 2024! That’s a fantastic!

 

April 2024:

- Sulab, an undergraduate student in the Biology program, presented a poster entitled “Effect of Microbial Consortia on Drought Tolerance in Maize” at the 9th Annual LSUS Regional Student Scholar Forum 2024 in LA Tech, Ruston, LA.

 

March 2024:

- Dr. Kabir has received the prestigious DOE VFP Faculty Fellowship for summer research (June-July 2024) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee.
